Each year, the museum displays a variety of exhibits to highlight the history and artistic talent of Palmer. In addition to our permanent historical collection and display, our gallery features photos, crafts, and art from local masters, as well as traveling exhibitions from around the country.
Friends across cultures
From August through September, we are displaying gifts from our sister city of Saroma, Japan. In 1980, Palmer resident Ed Holmes and Saroma teacher Mutsuhiro Ishiguro made contact via a shared ham radio hobby, and bonded as they came to understand their town’s similarities. Both persuaded their respective townships to enter a formal union, and since then, delegations have traveled back and forth across the ocean exchanging gifts and cross cultural dialogue.
Butte art club: colony barns
The members of the Butte Elementary Art Club are hard at work painting representations of Colony Barns, using photos from our very own museum collection! Come check out their work on display in our temporary gallery this October. More updates to follow on our facebook page and newsletter!
