What is the Wine Walk?
The Palmer Wine Walks are beloved annual fundraisers for the Palmer Museum of History and Art, celebrating both the charm of summer and the magic of winter in downtown Palmer. The tradition began as a single summer event, created to support the museum while bringing the community together the night before the Midsummer Garden and Art Faire. Over the years, its popularity grew so much that a second Wine Walk—held during the festive winter season—was added, giving locals and visitors another chance to enjoy Palmer’s small-town warmth in a whole new atmosphere.
During the Summer Wine Walk each July, attendees follow a route through ten downtown businesses, each open exclusively to participants and offering snacks, specials, and unique experiences. At every stop, guests can taste imported vintages all while savoring the long, golden evenings that make an Alaskan summer unforgettable.
The Winter Wine Walk brings a cozy counterpart to the tradition. Participants wander through five downtown Palmer businesses, now decorated with holiday lights and winter charm, enjoying seasonal treats, special sales, and carefully selected wines that complement the crisp, snowy setting.
Together, the summer and winter events showcase Palmer’s vibrant community spirit and the museum’s ongoing commitment to preserving local history in engaging, memorable ways.
