“Pearl was born on the tarmac at the Juneau airport in 1986. As she rode the Le Conte ferry home to the fishing village of Pelican, her parents saw the Northern Lights and named her Pearl Aurora. With this beginning, Pearl became an ambassador for Down syndrome. She attended kindergarten at Butte Elementary, completed Palmer Junior/ Middle School, and “graduated” from Palmer High. Pearl is a local product of outstanding teachers, inclusive classrooms and athletic programs, and the love and support from a welcoming community.
In 2009, Pearl won gold and silver medals in cross-country skiing at the Special Olympic World Games held in Sun Valley Idaho. After joining Facebook, she developed an interest in photography. When not taking pictures, Pearl enjoys meeting with friends, kayaking, snowshoeing, bowling, baking, and disc golf.
Wherever she goes, in all seasons, Pearl snaps photos. She is an iPhone photographer who specializes in group selfies. Pearl captures the fun in regular moments.”
Pearl Weaver exhibited her work as an Artist of the Week on May 20, 2021.
